Hotels in Eltham and south-east London

Eltham is a district of the Royal Borough of Greenwich, about nine miles south-east of central London and built around a long high street with its own railway station. This site lists the hotels that are genuinely near it, grouped by area and ordered by distance, with the Google rating for each so you can see what you are choosing between.

There is very little hotel accommodation in Eltham itself — a point worth knowing before you search. Most visitors end up either at the handful of places within a couple of miles, or in Greenwich, which is livelier and better connected but a little further out.

What was the Eltham Hotel?

People still search for it, so it is worth answering plainly. The Eltham Hotel stood at 31 Westmount Road, Eltham, London SE9 1JF, a short walk north of the high street, and its telephone number was 020 8850 8222. Its own website described it as offering rooms from around £40 a night, aimed at both people working in London and visitors using Eltham as a cheaper base than the centre, with the combined bus and railway station within walking distance.

That website stopped being a hotel site in the early 2010s and the address does not appear in current hotel listings, so the hotel appears to have closed some years ago. We have no connection to the original business — this site simply now occupies the domain name and points visitors towards the places that are actually open. If you were looking for that specific hotel, the nearest alternatives are on the Eltham page.

Getting around

Eltham railway station is on the line running out through Bexleyheath, with direct trains towards London Bridge, Cannon Street and Charing Cross depending on the service; central London is usually somewhere around half an hour. The A2 and A20 both pass close by, which makes the area a practical stop if you are driving between London and the Kent coast. For the O2, London City Airport or the Elizabeth line, Woolwich is the nearer interchange.
